Welcome to Waterfall Farms - Cork Veg. for Cork People
A little history of Waterfall Farms
We have been growing a wide selection
of vegetables for the past 30 years. Our parents started off in the early 1970's
with virtually nothing... a run down neglected farm with derelict buildings
and a 200 year old dwelling house which was in bad repair.
The first crops
to be grown were carrots, parsnips, Swedes, onions and butterhead lettuce. With
the pressure of bank repayments for the farm and an investment in a poly-tunnel
and onion store, things were not easy. A typical day consisted of hard work...early
mornings and late nights. Deliveries were made daily to small shops around
Cork City using a tractor and trailer or car and trailer as time went on.
In the early to mid 1980's our father made contact with Dunnes Storesto show a
sample of our butterhead lettuce...and so began the supply to Dunnes Stores. A
van was purchased, to replace the tractor and trailer as well as an Edlington
Washer which replaced the power hose for washing the vegetables. 16 years past
by, with 3 lorries and 2 vans on the road.
In 1998 we were ready for a
change...we decided to diversify
and began the vegetable preparation business.
Today we have a fleet of
5 refrigerated vans on the road supplying a wide selection of pubs, hotels, cafes,
juice bars and the best restaurants, like Nash 19, throughout a 50 mile radius
of Cork City.
